PRACTICAL TECHNOLOGY FOR SMALL BUSINESS

Make your business easier to run.

I help small businesses find technology that may be wasting time, frustrating customers, or making work harder than it needs to be.

KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Technology should make a small business easier to run — not give the owner another job.

Technology changes quickly. Your business does not need to chase every trend, but it does need to know what matters. The goal is simple: identify the biggest friction, rank the best next steps, and leave the owner with a practical plan.

Listen first.Start with the owner's real need.
Diagnose second.Look for the smallest useful improvement.
Recommend third.Fix Now. Improve Next. Nice to Have.
Sell last.Trust before implementation.

SMALL BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY CHECKUP

Ten questions. Then the top three priorities.

No 40-page disaster report. No forced AI. No surprise changes.

  1. Can customers find the business easily and see accurate hours, phone, address, and website?
  2. Does the website make sense on a phone?
  3. Can customers quickly understand what the business offers and what to do next?
  4. Are calls, forms, booking, ordering, and payment paths working without unnecessary friction?
  5. Do Google, social profiles, website, logo, photos, and messaging look like the same business?
  6. Are important accounts protected and ownership of domains, websites, and key logins understood?
  7. Could the business recover important files, contacts, and website access after a failure?
  8. Is the business paying for overlapping or unused technology?
  9. Are employees repeating work that software or automation could simplify?
  10. Is AI being used deliberately, ignored completely, or purchased without a clear need?

Email is required. Please do not include passwords, payment-card information, or other sensitive information.

TJW SERVICE STANDARD

Paid work. Clear expectations.

A paid customer should know what happens next. I deliberately limit the launch queue so service quality does not collapse if demand arrives faster than expected.

1

Purchase and complete the intake.

After secure Stripe payment, you return to the short intake form so I can understand your business and prepare.

2

Schedule the Checkup.

A Checkup appointment is normally offered within 5 business days after payment. The Checkup itself is Up to 60 minutes.

3

Written plan after the Checkup.

The Fix Now / Improve Next / Nice to Have action plan is normally delivered within 2 business days, with one brief clarification follow-up included for 7 days.

LAUNCH CAPACITY

No more than 5 paid Checkups per week.

I also keep no more than 5 active paid Checkups in the delivery queue at one time. If unexpected demand affects scheduling, I will contact affected customers promptly with available dates and a refund option.

This is not 24/7 or emergency IT support. If I cannot meet a promised paid-service window, I will contact the client promptly and offer a revised mutually agreed date or a full refund.

HOW IT WORKS

One customer. One need. One useful next step.

1

Tell me what is harder than it should be.

Website, booking, payments, customer follow-up, Google presence, accounts, repetitive work, AI, or something else.

2

I review the system around the problem.

I look at what is already in place before recommending another tool, subscription, platform, or piece of software.

3

You get the priorities.

Fix Now. Improve Next. Nice to Have. You can make the changes yourself or ask for a separate implementation quote.

TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT AI?

Good. AI is not the product.

A better-running business is the product.

If AI can solve a real problem, I will show you where it may fit. If it cannot, I will not recommend it. The point is not to buy AI. The point is to understand enough to make an informed decision.

Don't miss this technology wave just because you missed the first one.

WHY TED?

Plain English. Practical judgment. No technology theater.

Ted Johnson brings decades of hands-on experience across technology testing, support, teaching, troubleshooting, and practical end-user technology. The approach is deliberately simple: understand the need, explain the problem clearly, recommend what is useful, and leave the owner with a clear next step.

Tester. Troubleshooter. Problem Solver.

Under-promise. Over-deliver. Build trust first.

REMOTE WHEN POSSIBLE. LOCAL WHEN NEEDED.

Central brain. Local hands.

Many reviews and improvements can be handled remotely. When a job truly needs someone on site, qualified local technical help can be scoped separately for the physical work. The goal is to solve the business problem while creating useful work, not unnecessary complexity.
